BWA announces re-structuring process
As of the 1st January 2005, individual companies will be able to join BWA and play a leading role in its deliberative structure. Included in the changes is a new “home” for BWA. A new limited liability company BWA (UK) Ltd has been formed and now the Association operates fully from its Nottingham (UK) base.
Commenting on the changes Paul Newman, Chief Executive of BWA said:
“The Association has successfully completed the re-structuring process and we now have the ‘captains’ of our industry sitting at the boardroom table of BWA. I have been pleasantly surprised at the speed the industry has acted on these necessary changes. All the leading producers of bitumen waterproofing membranes in Europe are now direct members and this will allow us to take on board important new projects that will influence the direction of this industry for many years to come.”
BWA has not abandoned the National Associations who have previously been the backbone of the Association. Companies have been given the choice of either joining BWA direct or maintaining the identity of the established National Association. Newman further commented:
“It has been interesting to see that whilst most of the leading companies have chosen direct membership, in nearly every case the National Associations have also remained in BWA.”
BWA now boasts world leaders of the bitumen membrane manufacturing industry as members, with companies such as the Icopal Group, Soprema, IKO joining.
Newman added:
“Whilst the big groups and companies have joined, I am pleased to note that the smaller organisations recognise the need for a strong pan-European voice for the industry and have also signed up for membership.”
The BWA has retained its Affiliate member group and is well supported here by leading companies supplying the raw materials to the bitumen membrane industry.
